The Court House Hotel

The Court House Hotel, known locally as The Courty, is a long-standing Port Douglas pub at the corner of Macrossan and Wharf streets. The venue says it is the town’s oldest pub, occupying a heritage Queenslander building with broad verandas overlooking Anzac Park and the harbour. Its setting puts it close to the centre of Port Douglas while giving diners and drinkers several different spaces to settle into.

Food is a major focus, with lunch and dinner served in the bistro every day. The kitchen works with fresh local and tropical produce, offering an extensive pub-style menu intended to be straightforward and approachable rather than overly formal. Examples shown on the venue’s website include prawn and scallop skewers and Thai-style steamed salmon with rice and vegetables. The drinks list covers familiar pub choices alongside boutique beers, ciders, spirits and cocktails, with three bars spread across two levels.

There is more to the venue than its dining room. The beer garden hosts live music on most nights, while the sports bar shows live events on large screens. Upstairs, the Sunset Bar is designed as an open-air rooftop space with a tropical, colonial feel and views suited to watching the sun go down. Ground- and first-floor seating is available, and the hotel also has TAB facilities on the ground floor for visitors following the races or other events.

The Courty can work for a casual meal with the family, a drink with friends, a quick bite, or a later night out. Its function spaces cater for gatherings ranging from small groups to larger events of up to 500 people, making it a practical option for celebrations as well as everyday pub visits.
