Palm Cove Beach, on Williams Esplanade about a half-hour north of Cairns, is one of Tropical North Queensland's most beautiful and relaxed beaches. A gorgeous stretch of golden sand fringed by towering paperbarks and palms, it's the centrepiece of the upmarket, laid-back resort village of Palm Cove and a favourite escape from the city.
The palm-lined esplanade behind the beach is dotted with cafes, restaurants and resorts, making it easy to combine a swim or a stroll with a relaxed meal by the sea. With calm tropical waters and a serene, unhurried atmosphere, it's an idyllic spot to unwind, whether you're staying in the village or visiting for the day.
With a 4.7 rating from more than 3,300 reviews, it's a much-loved destination. The beach is free and open, but tropical conditions matter — marine stingers are present in the warmer months and stinger nets and safety signage apply — so it's essential to check current conditions and follow the warnings before you swim, and to take sun protection against the strong tropical sun.
