Australian Red Cross Wellbeing Centre

Australian Red Cross Wellbeing Centre, also known as Pat Gosper Place, provides accommodation for patients and carers travelling from regional and remote parts of far north Queensland for medical treatment in Cairns. Its location beside Cairns Hospital and the Liz Plummer Cancer Care Centre makes it a practical base for people who need to stay close to care.

The 44-room centre is designed as a comfortable home-away-from-home, with ensuite bathrooms, air conditioning, televisions and small fridges in every room. Guests also have access to a shared kitchen, dining space and laundry. Accessible rooms are available for people with reduced mobility, subject to availability. The centre aims to provide an inclusive, safe, healing and culturally appropriate environment for patients and their families.

This is accommodation rather than a general wellness venue, and it is best suited to patients receiving treatment in Cairns, along with carers or family members accompanying them. Office hours are listed as 6am to 10pm daily, with check-in from 2pm to 9pm. Eligible Patient Travel Subsidy Scheme guests may have no out-of-pocket accommodation costs after approval through their local hospital or clinic; otherwise, the listed rate is $70 per person, with a minimum two-night stay for single-person bookings. The centre is at the corner of Lake and Grove Streets in Cairns.
